Carnival Sitges 2020

Highlights of the Sitges Carnival 2020

If you plan to come to the Sitges 2020 Carnival to know this great party, you should take note of some peak moments. The first of these is the Arrival of Her Majesty Carnestoltes and the Carnival Queen. This year it will be on Thursday, February 20, at 7:15 p.m. in front of La Fragata beach, from where a tour of the city streets will begin to end at the Town Hall.

One of the most hilarious moments of the Carnival of Sitges 2020 will undoubtedly be the Race of Disguised Beds, which begins on Francesc Gumá street and ends at Passeig de la Ribera, at the height of the gardens of the painter Pere Pruna. The presentation of the participating beds will take place on Saturday, February 22 at 11:00, and the start of the race will be at 12:00.

A lot of repercussion is reaching the Tequereque party, which is a great parade of percursion that begins in the Plaça de l'Ajuntament and ends in the Cap de la Vila, where there is a final exhibition. A great batucada with participation of local groups that gives a lot of rhythm to the carnival. The appointment will be on Saturday 22 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

But undoubtedly, the most anticipated by all are the two great parades of the Carnival of Sitges 2020. The first is that of the Disbauxa, which will be on Sunday 23 from 19:30, leaving at the Passeig de la Ribera and ending in the Cap de la Vila. A large night parade full of color, with parades, floats and music.

Two days later, on February 25 at 9:00 pm it will be the turn of the Rua de l’Extermini, with the same route and atmosphere. At the end of the Disbauxa and Extermini, the party will continue in the theater halls of the Prado Suburense Casino and the Retreat Societat Recreativa, with costume dances and disco music.

The end of the party, meanwhile, will be Ash Wednesday, February 26, although in a much more collected and local environment, with the burial of His Majesty Carnestoltes, at 19:15 in the Passeig de la Ribera at height of the monument of El Greco.
